Discover your BER
BER assesses the energy performance of your home on a scale from A to G.
A BER is based on the characteristics of major components of the dwelling including:
- The construction type
- The levels of insulation
- The ventilation
- Air tightness features
- The systems for heat supply, distribution and control
- The type of lighting
These components are surveyed, and the results are entered in a computer programme that, with climate data, calculates standardised heating demand and performance.
The combined results of the heating demand and supply produce the Energy label, similar to the labels currently used on Domestic Appliances.
